BREAST REDUCTION (Reduction Mammaplasty)
Procedure: Also known as reduction mammaplasty, breast reduction removes excess breast fat, glandular tissue and skin to achieve a breast size in proportion with your body and to alleviate the discomfort associated with overly large breasts.
Length: 2-4 hours
Anesthesia: Local with sedation, or general.
In/Outpatient: In-patient/Outpatient.
Side Effects: Temporary swelling, numbness, bruising, Fluid accumulation.
Risks: Infection, loss of nipple sensation, scarring, injury to the skin, asymmetry, and possible inability to breast feed
Recovery: Back to work in 7 days, more strenuous activity 2-3 weeks. Swelling and bruising 3 to 6 months.
Duration of Results: Permanent
